Product Description


High borosilicate glass is a special type of silicate glass with a low expansion rate. Its main component is silicon dioxide (accounting for approximately 70% to 80%), and it also contains a relatively high proportion of boron oxide (A accounting for approximately 10% to 15%). A small amount of alkali metal oxides is added to adjust its properties. Internationally, it is commonly referred to as borosilicate glass.
The advantages of high borosilicate glass:
1.Superior thermal shock resistance
It can withstand drastic temperature differences ranging from -20℃ to 100℃. It will not easily crack when directly poured into boiling water or rapidly cooled from a high-temperature environment. It is suitable for making kitchen heat-resistant utensils and laboratory vessels.
2.Excellent chemical stability
Resistant to acids, alkalis, and water erosion. It is unlikely to react with food, drugs, or chemical reagents that come into daily contact, and the risk of harmful substance precipitation is extremely low. It has high safety and is often used in food-grade containers (such as baby bottles, food storage boxes), medical test tubes, and chemical laboratory instruments.
3.Good high-temperature resistance
The softening temperature is approximately 820℃, and the long-term usage temperature can reach 450℃. It can withstand short-term temperatures of up to 650℃. It is much higher than that of ordinary glass and can be directly used for open flame heating (such as glass pots) or industrial components in high-temperature environments.
4.High light transmittance and optical properties
The visible light transmittance exceeds 90%, and the glass has a clear and transparent texture without obvious impurities or color differences. It is suitable for making lighting fixtures, optical lenses, and containers that require clear observation of the contents.
5.Low expansion deformation characteristics
The volume changes very little when temperature changes, and the size stability is strong. It is unlikely to deform or crack after high-temperature processing or long-term use, making it suitable for manufacturing precision industrial components (such as solar photovoltaic glass, instrument glass).
6.Environmentally friendly and easy to recycle
The composition is mainly silica and boron oxide, without harmful substances such as heavy metals. After disposal, it can be recycled and reused, being environmentally friendly.

Manufacturing Process
1.Raw material preparation and ingredients
The core raw materials are silicon dioxide (quartz sand) and boron anhydride (borax / boric acid), supplemented by a small amount of alumina and calcium oxide as additives. The content of alkali metal oxides (sodium oxide, potassium oxide) is strictly controlled (usually less than 5%).
The ingredients are precisely weighed and mixed according to the formula to ensure that the proportion of boron anhydride is stable at 12% to 15%, which is the key to ensuring the low expansion coefficient of the glass. The mixed raw materials need to be fully stirred to avoid uneven components.
2.High-temperature melting
The mixed raw materials are put into a pool kiln or crucible kiln and heated to 1500~1600℃ (much higher than the melting temperature of ordinary glass), causing the raw materials to completely melt and form a uniform glass liquid.
During the melting process, clean gas is introduced to stir the glass liquid, and clarification treatment is carried out simultaneously to remove bubbles and impurities in the liquid, ensuring the transparency and uniformity of the glass. This process is energy-intensive and is a core cost item in the process. Molding
3.Choose different molding processes based on the final product's usage:
Compression / Blow Molding: Used for manufacturing daily items such as glass pots, water jugs, and baby bottles. Inject the glass liquid into the mold and shape it through compression or blowing.
Pull Molding: Suitable for making glass tubes and rods, applicable to experimental test tubes, lamp tube materials, etc.
Laminating Molding: Used for manufacturing flat products such as photovoltaic cover glass and instrument glass.
Hand Blowing: Suitable for custom products such as art glass and cultural creative ornaments.
4.Annealing Treatment
This is a key process in the production of high borosilicate glass. After molding, there is a significant thermal stress inside the glass. It needs to be sent to an annealing kiln. First, heat it to 500-600℃ (close to the glass transition temperature), and then slowly cool it down (the cooling rate is strictly controlled at 1-3℃/min).
