Product Description

High borosilicate glass is a special type of glass with a low expansion rate, which is made by using silicon dioxide as the main raw material and adding a large amount of boron oxide to replace the alkali metal oxides found in traditional sodium calcium glass.

The advantages of high borosilicate glass:

1.Superior thermal shock resistance
It can withstand a sudden temperature change of **-20℃ to 150℃** in an instant, and will not crack even when poured into boiling water or placed in a refrigerator for cooling. It is suitable for making containers used for alternating hot and cold conditions.
2.Excellent chemical stability
It does not contain harmful substances such as heavy metals, and is resistant to strong acids, strong alkalis, and corrosion by salt solutions. It will not release ions and contaminate the contents. When used as food containers (water cups, baby bottles), it is safe and harmless. When used as chemical laboratory vessels, it can also avoid reactions with reagents.
3.Outstanding high-temperature resistance
The softening point is approximately 820℃, and it can be used in a high-temperature environment of 400℃ or below for a long time. It will not deform even when directly heated by open flames. It is often used as the inner liner of health preservation pots, baking molds, and laboratory flasks.
4.High light transmittance and optical properties
The visible light transmittance can reach over 92%. The glass has a transparent texture without obvious color differences, and is suitable for making products with high requirements for light transmittance, such as optical lenses and solar photovoltaic glass.
5.Hard texture and low risk of cracking
Compared to ordinary glass, high borosilicate glass has higher mechanical strength and stronger resistance to dropping and compression. Even if it breaks, it mostly presents blunt-angle fragments, reducing the risk of scratches.
6.Easy to clean and less likely to leave stains
The surface is smooth and dense, and it does not easily adsorb water scale, tea stains, etc. Daily cleaning only requires simple wiping. It can still remain transparent and clean for a long time.

Manufacturing Process

1.Raw material preparation and ratio
The core raw materials are silica and boron anhydride, supplemented by a small amount of alumina and calcium oxide as additives to replace the alkali metal oxides in ordinary sodium calcium glass. The raw materials need to be crushed, sieved, and mixed. The ratio accuracy is extremely high - the content of boron anhydride directly determines the expansion coefficient and heat resistance of the glass. Deviation from the standard will lead to a significant decline in performance. The mixed raw materials need to be dried and impurities removed to avoid the formation of bubbles during melting.
2.Molten and clarification
The mixed raw materials are put into a pool kiln or crucible kiln and heated to a temperature of 1500°C - 1600°C for molten. During this stage, continuous stirring is required to ensure that the raw materials fully react and the molten liquid is uniform.
3.Molding
Choose different molding methods based on the type of product. Common processes include:

4.Annealing Treatment
This is a crucial process for ensuring the performance of high borosilicate glass. After molding, there are a large number of thermal stresses inside the glass. If it is directly cooled, it will cause cracking and the thermal shock resistance will deteriorate.
5.Post-processing and Inspection
Post-processing: The products after annealing undergo cutting, grinding, polishing, drilling, etc. Some products may also need to be tempered for enhanced mechanical strength or coated (such as anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings).
Quality Inspection: Visual inspection is conducted to check for appearance defects. Instruments are used to test indicators such as the expansion coefficient, light transmittance, and temperature difference resistance of the glass. Defective products are removed.
